Kadri has three goals in last 10 days

After only scoring one goal in back-to-back losses, Toronto’s offense is starting to get things rolling. They’ve scored 11 goals in their last three games and have gone 2-1 in that stretch. The latest result was a 4-1 victory in Calgary. They had a 3-0 lead early in the third period before the Flames were able to get on the board. The defense kept Calgary to shooting just 20 SOGs in the game, and they only have five total in the final period.

Four different players ended up scoring goals for the Maple Leafs. Center Nazem Kadri saw his lengthy point streak come to an end against Washington, but he was able to register one of those goals against Calgary. He now has 22 points on the season. Goaltender Frederik Andersen (14-7-1) has won back-to-back games at Carolina and Calgary, and he’s given up one goal or less in four of his last six starts.

 

With Talbot questionable, Brossoit likely to get the start

Edmonton will have two quick home games after a long five-game road trip that ended at 2-3. They were able to beat Boston at the end of the trip and they picked up a 3-2 overtime win over Arizona last time out. Down 2-1 entering the final period, Matt Benning was able to tie things up with less than six minutes to go. He was also the assistman for Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, who had the game-winning goal in overtime at the 4:20 mark.

Goaltender Laurent Brossoit (0-3-1) is still looking for his first win and he’ll likely be the guy between the pipes. He last played against Buffalo on November 24th and took a loss despite only giving up two goals on 30 total shot attempts. Cam Talbot, the team’s normal goalie, is listed as questionable with a lower body injury. So is left wing Jujhar Khaira, who last played against Buffalo.

Maple Leafs are:

  • 8-3 in their last 11 overall
  • 5-1 in their last 6 after allowing 2 goals or less in prior contest

Oilers are:

  • 2-9 in their last 11 after a win
  • 6-13 in their last 19 against Eastern Conference

The line is at an even -110 likely due to Talbot’s questionable appearance in the game. However, Edmonton has struggled to find consistency this season, so it’s a safe bet to roll with Toronto either way.
